More Men Twitter

Do more men twitter than women? More males than females? More dudes than chicks? Yes, yes they do.



In my independant research men out twitter women over 2-1. Now this surprises me, as part of the fairer sex, because women as a rule are known to talk more than men. Or do we? Or is talking different from twittering?



I took a survey of some of my male twitter followers asking them why they twitter, Jestertunes (whose American Idol blog I follow Jestertunes » American Idol Season Seven Top Four Results) replied, "because a large circle of my friends use it to talk as a group all day long. it is a great social tool." Carson Black of Sacramento Web Development said, "Why twitter? Sometimes I'm not sure. But I know it's good marketing and I have made some good contacts on there. I have been offered jobs from people on twitter and it helps me keep up with what other people in my industry are doing without having to read a bunch of blog posts and stuff."

So the men are twittering. Some for business, some for fun.

Men outnumber women for now in twitterland...why? Is it because twitter was founded by men? And the first initial adopters were their friends, and it grew from there? I don't know why more men twitter, but I do find the phenomenon quite interesting.
